Add a handful of filters to your personal images
Add a handful of filters to your personal images
Instead of snapping a picture with your phone and uploading it naked and raw to the Internet, image editing apps let you make it cool and edgy or grungy and vintage. They give you a powerful tool to share your images with friends and family online bringing a whole new level of social to social media sites.
Pixlr-o-matic is an impressive photography app that allows its users to add effects at the press of a few buttons. There's no learning curve for this app.
Sections
There are three sections or steps in the process. The red section gives the options of filters that will lighten, darken or tint the photograph. The user can find the overlays in the blue section. In the yellow section, the user can add a frame around the picture.
Red Section
What's very cool about this app is that the picture looks as if it's laying in a bath of chemicals like it would in a professional darkroom. The water ripples with each movement or change of the picture. Each filter here has a name. The Ramona filter adds a light red tint to the picture while Lucas washes the picture of any color giving it a washed out appearance.
Blue Section
After altering in the red section, there are different overlays available for the user to integrate into the photo in the blue section. The flame overlay has 11 other possibilities that allow users to apply a fire effect in their photographs. Light leaks and light paint are just two more of the overlays available with the Pixlr-o-matic app, which gives the user 41 more overlay possibilities. Shine and rainbow give two different bokeh effects.
Yellow Section
This is where the finishing touches happen. The yellow section has frames for a variety of effects. Rustic adds a distressed frame around the photograph while Old adds a distressed look to the entire picture. There are so many choices to create a unique picture.
At any time, the user can switch back and make changes to any section. Once the photograph is complete, the user can save as a JPEG file or directly into the Pixlr sharing service.
